Saddleworth WI create colourful poppies to raise £565 for Royal British Legion

A GENEROUS cheque for £565 was presented to the Royal British Legion thanks to the hard work of the creative Saddleworth Women’s Institute.

The Craft Group of the Saddleworth WI have been busy during the past year knitting and crocheting eye-catching remembrance poppies.

Members of the Craft Group show off some of their poppies as they presented the money to the Saddleworth Branch of the Royal British Legion at Uppermill Conservative Club.

The sale of the poppies across the community helped to raise the money, which is double the amount that the group raised last year when they started the initiative.

They are now already hard at work knitting more of the brightly coloured poppies to sell later in the year to mark Remembrance Day in November.
