A TALENTED scout is putting on a night of musical entertainment as she raises money to travel to America to represent Saddleworth at the World Scout Jamboree.
Hannah Bird, who turns 15 in March, has been selected to represent Saddleworth at the prestigious event in West Virginia in July 2019.
Thousands of scouts from across the globe will come together for 12 days to experience new adventures, cultures, and friendships.
Before the trip, Hannah, who lives in Uppermill, needs to raise money so Scouts and Explorers from the UK and lower income countries are able to attend this once in a lifetime opportunity.
As part of her fundraising efforts Hannah is putting on a concert on Friday, March 23 at Uppermill Methodist Church at 7.30pm.
It will feature Hannah – who is an accomplished pianist and viola player – plus local chamber choir Saddleworth Consort and several other talented local young musicians.
The concert will be followed by light refreshments in the Methodist coffee lounge. Entry is FREE with everyone encouraged to donate what they can towards her fundraising.
Hannah said: “When I was offered the chance to go to the selection weekend I knew I had to go for it.
“I’m really pleased that I got a place and I’m looking forward to representing Saddleworth.
“I’m also really grateful to everyone who has supported me to raise money so far. It’s not just for me; it’s to make sure that scouts from everywhere in the world attend the Jamboree.
“I invite you all to come to the concert, enjoy the music, and support this great cause!”
