Special guests launch new luxurious Dovestone Holiday Park

CELEBRITY GUESTS hailed the opening of a luxury holiday park in Greenfield where visitors from far and wide can experience Saddleworth’s stunning scenery and hive of activities.

Dovestone Holiday Park, which is nestled at the foot of Dovestone Reservoir off Bank Lane, was unveiled by Purico Ltd in April after 18 months in the making.

The development boasts five lodges in an idyllic location to offer a relaxing break for friends, a family activity holiday or a romantic getaway for two.

Each lodge has a double bedroom with ensuite, a twin room, family bathroom, a fully-equipped kitchen, lounge area with flat screen TV, veranda with hot tub and barbeque, and a parking space.

Local scenes don the walls, giving visitors an idea of the many activities in store, from walking, cycling and riding to sailing and wildlife and bird watching.

With the Pennine Way on the doorstep and Manchester a 30-minute train journey away there is also plenty in the surrounding area to keep guests busy.

Craig Stevenson, manager of the development for Purico who designed and planned the park, said: “This is such a great location and we are very pleased with how it has turned out.

“The spas are wonderful and with the green twinkling lights it really looks magical at night.”

The park was officially opened by Prof Nat Puri CBE, Founder of Purico, the Mayor of Oldham Councillor Ateeque Ur-Rehman and Mayoress Councillor Yasmin Toor, and Farokh Engineer, former cricketer for India and Lancashire.

The Mayor of Oldham said: “I cannot tell you how proud I am to welcome such a wonderful new development to our town.

“Saddleworth is a jewel in the crown for Oldham. Lots of people visit already for the day but hopefully something like this will tempt them to stay in the area for longer.”

Mr Engineer added: “People can come from all over to have a break and relax. Once you manage to find it, it is a piece of heaven. It will also be very good for business in the area.”

There are plans in place for five more lodges to open at the park by this July, and another five in early 2017.

Permission is also in place for 10 ‘glamping’ timber pods, which sleep four and come with shower, WC and basic kitchen, to be added to the site.
