A SPRINGHEAD angler is on a quest for the ultimate pike fishing experience…and he is sharing his journey with others in his third book.
Dr Steve Rogowski, 64, is on a mission to capture a 30lb fish – and so join the elite of the piking world – and has written ‘The Incompleat Angler’ to record his steps.
The book’s title is a nod to Izaak Walton’s classic tome ‘The Compleat Angler’, which first appeared in 1653, as Steve has yet to complete his task.
Steve’s book looks at the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of pike fishing and includes the lore of the pike, pike waters, tackle, methods and techniques.
There are fascinating chapters dealing with pike fishing stories, piking trials and tribulations and even cooking and eating pike.
Also included are contributions from other well-known and experienced pike anglers, some of whom are ‘compleat’, and more than 130 eye-catching coloured photographs.
Experienced pike angler Steve said: “The book will certainly appeal to all those interested in fishing for Britain’s and Ireland’s largest freshwater predator fish.
“Curious beginners, as well as those of more experience, through to the most knowledgeable and skilled anglers, are sure to find it an enthralling and informative read.”
The book, which is published by the Little Egret Press, is the third on the subject written by the former social worker, who also has two books on social work published.
