Stan Bowes, from Diggle, has uncovered some interesting and entertaining facts – you just couldn’t make them up.

BUNGEE-JUMPER William Brotherton was not very good at maths.  Jumping from a tethered balloon over a field in Arvada, Colorado, he miscalculated the length of the rope, using one 70 feet too long.  It was his last jump.

ELSEWHERE, Cambodian radio presenter Chiang Goan survived a 100 feet fall from a tower, putting his good fortune down to the lucky goat charm he wore round his neck.  Wishing to prove the power of the charm to his listeners, he invited a soldier down to the radio station and asked him to fire a bullet at him. It didn’t work!

Apophthegms
Tomorrow is usually the busiest day of the year.
Life is like a coin.  You can spend it any way you wish, but you can only spend it once.
It’s what you do when you have nothing to do that reveals what you are.
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.
