Success for Saddleworth runners in Oldham marathon

AUSTERLANDS’ GAYNOR Keane continued her rich vein of form with victory in the Oldham 10k race, the latest race in the Milltown to Moors series.

The 39-year-old, who is a member of Saddleworth Runners, was the winner of the women’s race and also the top woman in female over 35 years category as she clocked a time of 41min 48sec.

Gaynor also finished 28th in the overall standings in the race which attracted over 200 runners.

Already the winner of the Oldham 5k, Gaynor will be bidding to complete a hat trick in the Milltown to Moors series when she runs in the Oldham Half Marathon on October 12.

She also recently completed a gruelling 66 mile challenge run in 24 hours, which included climbing 42 of the highest peaks in the Lake District.

It was a good day in the 10k for Oldham overall as they claimed the top three places in the women’s race as Royton Road Runners’ Kirsty White was second while Amy Shadbolt, also from Saddleworth Runners, was third.

The top-placed male from Saddleworth Runners was Richard Sample who was 25th in a time of 41min 45sec.
