DENSHAW ODDFELLOWS and Waterhead Shepherd’s Boy are fighting it out at the top of the table in division one of the Saddleworth Charity Pool League, although both have lost recently to third-placed Granby Uppermill.
At the opposite end of the table, it is not looking good for the Blazing Rag and Uppermill Commercial B. In a bottom-of-the-table clash Blazing Rag beat the Commercial.
In the gallon competition there are four teams battling it out to decide where the charity money goes this year.
In division two, Springhead Liberal A seemed to be all but promoted until two heavy defeats allowed the chasing pack to get closer.
The two relegated teams from last year are fighting it out for second place.
Uppermill Sports & Social Club have had some good results recently, prompting one of their players to claim they “were going for promotion”. A touch optimistic maybe.
Again in this division there is a battle between three teams to decide on where the charity money goes.
