YOUNG pancake-flipping enthusiasts are invited to Tommyfield Market to take part in this year’s ‘The Big Flip’ competition.
The competition, organised by Oldham Council, is taking place on Saturday 25 February from 11.30am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm at Tommy’s Field, inside the Market Hall.
Contestants will go against the clock to see how many times they can flip a pancake inside 30 seconds.
Each contestant (aged six to 12 years old) only has one attempt to compete, so every second counts. Those with the highest score will take home £20 in vouchers to spend in Tommyfield Market Hall.
Councillor Jean Stretton, Leader of Oldham Council, said: “As ‘The Big Flip’ enters its third year, I’m hoping we get some of our highest ever scores from this year’s contestants.
“Pancake flipping is a fun tradition to take part in, so I’d encourage your children to get in some practice for when you bring them along to Tommyfield Market to compete.
“Remember to pick up your favourite pancake topping ingredients whilst you’re at the market too, mine are lemon and brown sugar.”
DJ Chef will be on hand during the day to provide fun, jokes and music and there will also be free face painting and free balloon modelling. Mr Tommyfield and his helpers, Daisy and Poppy, will also be joining in the fun.
