The much-loved event will see scarecrows on display from May 23 – June 14, taking in half-term, Whit Friday weekend and the Saddleworth Festival of the Arts.

And with the theme of popular TV programmes, there will be a host of adored characters for competitors to seek out across Delph.

The scarecrows will be mainly found in the village centre with some near the crossroads and others down Pingle Lane. A circular trail will offer those taking part a pleasant walk.

Trail guides with clues (£1.50) are available from Sadddleworth Museum, Delph Library and other outlets in Delph.

The annual Delph Scarecrow Trail is organised by the Delph Community Association and all money raised goes to the running of Delph Library and other community projects such as the maintenance and improvement of the Chapel Gardens.

Prizes for those who spot and identify the most scarecrows have been kindly donated by the Old Bell Inn, the Millgate Arts Centre and Shear Perfection hairdressers.

Last year, trailblazers named their favourite scarecrow as Fireman Sam of the Old Bell Inn, securing the establishment’s victory for the second year running.
