Unbeaten Delph U11s celebrate triple success

IT HAS been a campaign to remember for Delph Cricket Club’s treble winning under-11 side.

Unbeaten all season, Delph won the Huddersfield League, Romida Dawson Cup and Champion of Champions Trophy.

In the Romida Dawson Cup final, Delph defeated Lepton by 36 runs at Aldmondbury with Delph captain Isaac Jones player of the match after he took two wickets for two runs from three overs as well as being involved in a decisive run out with a direct hit from the boundary.

The Champion of Champions was played at Holmfifth and in the semi final Delph defeated Skelmenthorpe by 110 runs with George Partington claiming four wickets.

Delph won a tight game by 15 runs with George Partington’s four wickets providing decisive as was Jacob Douglas who hit an unbeaten 22.

Team manager Warren Jones said: “I cannot praise the players enough for what they achieved in going through the whole season undefeated.

“Remarkably out of a squad of 13 players, eight had never picked up a bat until 18 months ago. And the core of the side – seven or eight players – are still eligible to play next season.”

Indeed Lucas Selby was only nine years of age at the start of the season and George Partington another young member of the side.
