Gallery Oldham’s latest exhibition allows visitors to join in the fun and actually be part of it.
‘The Current Situation’ is the latest offering from Yara El-Sherbini, a contemporary artist whose work is accessible, playful and can be enjoyed by all.
Over the last 10 years her installations have used recognisable formats, such as quizzes, gameshows and jokes.
Her show invites visitors to navigate the world’s borders using her enormous interactive sculpture.
This giant buzz-wire will prove that it is nearly as hard to travel across the world’s borders in theory as it is in practice.
Check out Gallery Oldham’s website – www.galleryoldham.org.uk – for details of how you can become involved in Yara’s exhibition.
There will be a chance to take part in her pub quiz, enter her word search competition and more.
Councillor Barbara Brownridge, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Co-operatives, said: “This exhibition is a great example of the way in which contemporary art can tackle topical issues in a fun and engaging way.”
‘The Current Situation’ runs from May 28 to September 27 and is a touring exhibition produced by New Art Exchange, Nottingham. For more information visit http://www.yaraelsherbini.com/about-my-work/
