DOBCROSS Youth Band needs your vote to help secure £500 in the latest round of Grassroots Giving funding organised by Skipton Building Society.
The youth band is Saddleworth’s only contender to have been shortlisted for this year’s cash giveaway which will see 165 organisations each receive £500.
Now in its sixth year, Grassroots Giving has helped more than 800 community groups across the UK which might normally struggle to attract any funding.
This year there have been more than 740 applications from groups with a wonderful range of inspirational stories.
Dobcross Youth and Trainer band, established for 30 years, teaches youngsters aged 7-18 brass and is run by a committee of 12 that meet every two weeks.
They also carry out charity work, and recently took 30 children on a trip to play at the Menin Gate in Ypres.
The money would allow them to buy new uniforms so Dobcross Youth Band can look smart and the children will feel proud of who they play for.
The public vote will decide which groups and organisations receive the funding, and voting is open online until October 12, 2018.
Last year 164 groups became the latest recipients and received more than 40,000 votes – a record for Grassroots Giving.
Grassroots Giving was launched in 2013 to celebrate the Society’s 160th anniversary and proved an immediate success.
