With Halloween and Bonfire Night just around the corner there are lots of tempting treats appearing in the supermarkets and it’s easy to fill your baskets with foods high in all the bad things for us, like sugar, salt and saturated fats.
Now is a great time to build up some good habits when it comes to food choices. Making big changes can seem daunting so make one change each week and a good place to start is to discover a new food or maybe making a healthier swap when it comes to our weekly shop.
This could become a habit and the realisation that you don’t ‘need’ or ‘want’ particular foods is fantastic and it makes a big difference.
It doesn’t have to be just about food either – it could be that you find yourself fancying a chocolate bar but by keeping yourself busy doing something else so you’re not thinking about it, that craving soon disappears.
Learning to have a different relationship with food – a healthier one – can change your life and doesn’t have to mean bland food or that you have to be a gourmet cook.
It’s just as easy to buy quick ingredients on your trolley dash. Try out this simple recipe below for a really tasty supper.
PARMA HAM WRAPPED CHICKEN BREASTS (Serves 4 – 7 Pro Points per serve)
Preheat oven to 190/170 fan, gas mark 5.
Take 4 skinless chicken breasts and using a sharp knife, cut a pocket in each one.
Take 50grms of Stilton cheese and divide between the chicken breasts, stuffing the cheese into the pockets.
Close the pockets and wrap each chicken breast in a slice of Parma Ham then bake in a shallow baking dish in the oven for 35 mins.
Meanwhile take a pack of roasting vegetables and cook as per the pack instructions and serve alongside. Delicious.
