Saddleworth WI give generous boost to OMRT

OLDHAM Mountain Rescue Team has received a generous boost to help cover its running costs thanks to Saddleworth WI.

Saddleworth WI cheque presentation to Oldham Mountain Rescue Team

The group presented a cheque to OMRT, which is their chosen charity for 2018, at the start of their May meeting.

They then enjoyed an intriguing talk from Mick Nield who gave an overview of OMRT and also brought along two of their search and rescue dogs, Bob and Dave.

On Sunday, June 3, the Saddleworth WI will be supporting OMRT with a pop-up café at their Open Day at their new operational base at Boarshurst Lane in Greenfield.

This is a day designed for the team to thank all the community for their continued support and donations without which they would find difficult to function.

From 10am onwards, visitors can also meet the Team and their dogs, see the new base and kit, and there will be activities for children as well as a BBQ and bar.

Back at the WI, on Wednesday, June 6 they have a special event as appearing for one night only are the Saggy Bottom Girls.

If you love the lyric genius of Victoria Wood you will love this all-lady group helping to celebrate Saddleworth WI’s 10th birthday with some fabulous musicians, hilarious songs, fizz and cake!

Saddleworth WI meeting on the first Wednesday of each month at The Royal George in Greenfield. Meetings start at 8.15pm, registration open from 7.30pm.
