Young cricketers enjoy special day’s coaching at Headingley

SOME OF Saddleworth School’s best cricketers enjoyed a day’s coaching at Yorkshire’s Headingley home.

It was thanks to funding from the Saddleworth White Rose Society and the Yorkshire supporters’ message board The Corridor of Uncertainty.

This is the third successive year the coaching has taken place. The aim is to provide quality coaching for local youngsters but also to show them that though they are in the Lancashire cricket system, they can consider themselves to be part of the Yorkshire cricket community as Saddleworth is historically and traditionally a Yorkshire cricket centre.

Saddleworth School sports teacher Adam Cree said: “The day was a complete success. I had a group of 12 gifted and talented under-12 boys who received first-class coaching, used the bowling machine for the first time and had a great experience.

“They also took the opportunity to watch some of the first-class game between Yorkshire and Notts. The day was extremely well run. The coaching and facilities were top drawer and it a brilliant day. ”
