Your museum needs you: Saddleworth Museum looks for volunteers

ENTHUSIASTIC MEMBERS of the community are being sought by Saddleworth Museum and Gallery to join their Front of House team.

saddleworth-museum-logoThe Museum, on Uppermill High Street, recently re-opened it doors following a year-long transformation thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Those chosen to become Front of House volunteers will attend four free training sessions where they will learn the key skills of visitor engagement.

Training will cover a variety of topics such as engaging with the exhibition, telling stories of items on display and interacting with the public.

The new recruits will then be ready to guide visitors through time and place on an interactive tour of Saddleworth Museum.

This exciting opportunity is open to all, from high school pupils to long-time locals, and it is a wonderful opportunity to help visitors explore Saddleworth’s engaging past.

If you would like to join the new Front of House team please send an expression of interest explaining why you would be a valuable member of the team by 30 December 2016.

Candidates will be invited to an informal meeting with the Learning Officers in January 2017.

Please send expression of interest to: Cat Jessop and Lindsey Milnes, Learning Officers for the museum by email: or write to Saddleworth Museum and Gallery, High Street, Uppermill, Oldham, OL3 6HS.

For more information contact Cat or Lindsey by email or phone 01457 874 093.
