Zombie chase game ‘Ruin’ to thrill on streets of Manchester

THE original, biggest and most sensational urban zombie chase game is returning to Manchester for 2015 with an incredible new story.

The epic street game ‘Ruin’ will see participants enter the 2.8 Hours Later world to become part of a quest to save the human species, in a follow on from last year’s version ‘Survival’.IMG_44.Rusty.Iris

In the game, a rapidly depleting number of living humans are left. Five years after the original zombie infection broke out, a weaker strain has infected the entire species and, as a result, no children have been born in four years.

Players must join a resistance movement as they attempt to locate the last remaining group of uninfected children left on earth; will they save themselves or save the species?

Participants will have to leave their zombie proof headquarters at ‘Asylum’ and break in to a quarantined slum run by a brutal warlord and that is rife with the infected.

Armed with little more than a map, players will have to complete physical as well as mental tasks whilst evading the zombie hordes roaming the city streets.

Characters in the game are played by convincing actors in full costume and make-up. Players who are ‘caught’ by the living dead will be marked with invisible ink signifying infection.

The game, developed by award-winning game designers Slingshot, is now in its sixth year, with over 60,000 people having already taken part in ‘2.8 Hours Later’.IMG_4539.Rusty.Iris

Simon Evans, who co-founded 2.8 Hours Later with his business partner Simon Johnson, said: “We visited Manchester in 2014 and as the game continues to grow in popularity we thought we’d bring it back for an even more spectacular event.

“People are always looking for something that will drag them out of their comfort zone and “Ruin” will do just that.

“Adrenaline and fear will push participants forward but they’ll need to be careful not to let terror overwhelm them; you will need cunning as well as speed.

“The game offers a whole host of new challenges for our players to contend with and characters which will make the experience completely different to previous years.”

You can sign up to play as a team or individually but must be over 18 to play.
