Bikers rev up £713 for charity

KIND-HEARTED motor bikers revved up £713 for Saddleworth Riding for the Disabled as they held their first ever fundraising night as a club.

The Rifle Range Throttle Twisters MCC raised the roof with their rock night on September 15 at the pub from which they take their name, The Rifle Range in Chadderton.

Full member Nessa took centre stage with her band Smack The Monkey to provide the entertainment for around 120 people while there was also a raffle, and potato or cheese and onion pie.

Helen Taylor and Sally Jones from Saddleworth RDA visited the club to receive the money, which will towards improving the arena at their base at Higher Oxhey Farm in Denshaw.

Helen said: “It was a fantastic night with great people and great music and the money will go along way towards work on the arena.”

Ange, secretary of the club which was formed in 2017, added: “It was a great night and we’re really pleased to raise the amount we did, especially with it being our first event.”

Saddleworth RDA, which launched in May, is one of 500 RDA groups in the UK that provides horse riding and therapeutic sessions to 30,000 people with disabilities.

Their activities are specially designed for children and adults with physical and learning difficulties to receive physical and psycho-social therapy, enjoyment and a chance to achieve.
