A HAIRDRESSER to the stars is bringing glitz, glamour and the celebrity experience to Saddleworth after opening a new luxurious salon in Lydgate.
Jo Ferns, who already has salons in Ashton and Chadderton, threw open the doors of her latest venue in October with her daughter Hannah as assistant manager to pamper local ladies in style.
And with a strong focus on offering a relaxing and indulgent experience, Jo, who has worked across Europe as a hair and make-up artist, has pulled out all the stops to make her clients feel like A-listers.
With plush seating in the waiting area, soft leather seats at the styling stations and scented candles flickering gently, everything about the salon oozes with a welcoming comfort and elegance.
And there is even a separate bar area where ladies can relax and sip on champagne or wine or choose from an array of traditional and herbal 
teas during their colouring treatments.
The salon also serves delicious breakfasts to early clients and light lunches and afternoon tea later in the day.
Jo explained: “The client is the most important thing to us and we want each person to enjoy their experience, not just feel like they are coming for a haircut.
“People think we are going to be very expensive but we’re not – a cut and blow starts at just £28. We offer the experience of being a celebrity but not at that price.
“Many of our clients say once they’ve experienced a Jo Ferns salon, they never want to go anywhere else.
“I wanted to make the salon as open and inviting as possible, with a really relaxing and friendly atmosphere where everyone can chat to each other and see what’s going on around them.
“I love working with celebrities for TV and red carpet events but what I’m passionate about is having my own salons and bringing the Jo Ferns experience to the public.”
And this unique offering has all come together at Lydgate with a helping hand from staff from Jo’s other salons which share a team spirit that
is as friendly and inclusive as their services.
Jo, who has worked with celebrities on TV shows including Brookside and Hollyoaks, revealed: “My staff from the other salons came in on their days off to help me out and support me.
“We’re a really close group and some of us have worked together since I opened my first salon in Ashton 12 years ago. We used to go on holidays together and have brought up our families together.
“I’ve also had many clients calling in when we opened to see the new salon and find out how we’re getting on, which is lovely.”
With nine stations and a talented team of six stylists, Jo’s newest salon is already a popular hive of activity, offering cut and blows, curling services and bridal hair, extensions and colours and hi-lites.
And they stock an extensive range of top products from L’Oreal, including hair botox and ground-breaking hair thickening ‘Fibrology’ treatments.
Jo, who once won popular TV reality programme Come Dine With Me, commented: “There are so many products out there but the results from this one are astounding.
“All our staff are full trained by us from scratch to use all these products and really do wonders for your hair.”
