IT’S THE end of an era following the retirement of Manchester United legend Paul Scholes.
The 38-year-old from Grasscroft is one of the most decorated footballers of all time having won 25 pieces of silverware including 11 Premier League titles.
Scholes, handed his debut in May 1995, made a total of 720 first-team appearances for the Reds scoring 155 goals.
He would also have won far more than 66 caps for England had he not retired from international football in 2004 for family reasons.
Scholes’ final appearance – his 500th in the Premier League – came in the 5-5 draw at West Brom on the last day of the 2012/13 season which also marked the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson after 26 years and exactly 1,500 matches as manager.
