LIVE ENTERTAINMENT is set to descend on Diggle once more as the charitable ‘DiggFest’ returns for a third year on Saturday, September 26 at Diggle Band Club.
The family-friendly event will open its doors from 2pm ‘till late, with a huge variety of live music to keep guests entertained.
From punk rock to soul, local groups performing will include ‘The Stallies’, from Hebden Bridge, and the Saddleworth-based ‘Cherry Hintons’.
And travelling up to join the fun are ‘The Napiers’ from London, who will be covering the likes of Elvis Costello, hopefully on the outside lawn.
The music will be accompanied by a BBQ, bouncy castle, tombola, and stalls from an array of local businesses, such as the renowned Grandpa Greene’s ice cream parlour.
Lucky winners of the raffle will get to choose from excellent prizes, ranging from a meal at the White Lion, a voucher for a helicopter ride by Saddleworth Pleasure Flights, and a stay in a Bed and Breakfast in Southport.
The musical spectacle has been an overriding success in the previous two years, raising around £1,000 each time for chosen charities as well as some revenue to support the band club.
And organiser, Carolyn Robinson, sees no reason why this success can’t continue this year, with the chosen charity ‘Cold Nights’, which supports homeless people across Manchester.
The festival is also kindly asking for donations towards the Oldham Foodbank, such as tins of non-perishable food.
Carolyn said: “It’s a really good family event and is safe for families, as the venue is away from a main road, and there is a big spacious garden.
“We will be catering for all music tastes, and there is cheap beer on offer, so I don’t see why it can’t be another success.”
DiggFest will take place on Saturday, September 26 at Diggle Band Club. There is a 5 admission charge but under 12s go free.
