Blackpool comes to Oldham

Thrillseekers should head to Hollinwood as Blackpool Comes to Oldham. Europe’s biggest mobile fun park is back in town with hair-raising rides and attractions, plus a mini circus and family entertainment.

Film fans have a choice of great family movies to watch, including The Jungle Book at Greenacres Pop Up Cinema, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2 at Shaw Playhouse 2 or Cinderella at Gallery Oldham.

Oldham Coliseum is bringing the fun children’s book Walter and The No-Need-To Worry Suit to life at Failsworth, Oldham and Crompton libraries.

There’s more drama, plus dancing and games, with a Charlie and the Chocolate theme at the new Infinity Dance studios.

Future sports stars can take part in handball, football and cricket all week at Oldham Academy North’s multi-sports camp in Royton.

Or dive in and make a splash with family swim sessions at Oldham Community Leisure pools across the borough.

Other highlights include the Holiday Zone at Mahdlo for eight to 14 year olds, with music and dance, sports, computer games and ‘Come Dine With Me’ cooking sessions.

And you can get creative and make 3D model boats at Gallery Oldham with arts and craft activities based on the current Gone Fishing exhibition.

Councillor Jean Stretton, Cabinet Member for Co-operatives and Neighbourhoods, said: “The Go! Winter programme of events highlights the huge range of activities and events the council and our partners are offering our young people.

“The website is also a good one-stop-shop for parents to help them find something different their children can try over half-term.”

Go! Winter is part of Go! Oldham, an online ‘what’s on’ guide for young people aged 20 and under across the borough. To find out more, visit their website www.gooldham.com or keep up-to-date by following Go! Oldham on twitter at @gooldham
