Family furniture business celebrates milestone

A SUCCESSFUL family-run furniture company in Grotton is celebrating 20 years in business – and they have no plans to slow down as they prepare for a stunning refurbishment and new contracts.

Mike and Anna Chadwick launched Matthew James Furniture as a small workshop in 1994 to fulfil their desire to provide high quality, handcrafted bespoke kitchen and bedroom furniture.

They went on to open their own showroom at Brooklands Parade in Grotton six years later, where they have remained ever since to grow the business and its reputation for outstanding quality.

All their furniture is measured and designed from scratch through a friendly and personal service and installed professionally and efficiently.

Products range from kitchen cabinets, dining tables and larders to dressing rooms, libraries and bedroom or lounge furniture, using timeless designs in hand-painted, natural or high gloss finishes tailored to the customer’s wishes.

And now, as they reach their milestone, they are just as passionate about their company as ever and have teamed up with German kitchen company Kuhlmann to add a further design element for their customers.

Anna said: “We still take genuine pride in every kitchen, bedroom or piece of furniture we create as we did in the very beginning.

“We were approached by Kuhlmann so have teamed up with them to offer the sleek German designs to our customers

“But we’re not abandoning our traditional routes and will continue to build bespoke furniture from scratch.”

And to show off their latest unique products as well as some of the new Kuhlmann kitchens, their showroom will be getting a make-over this summer.
