DETERMINED FUNDRAISERS raised more than £2,000 for charity as they pushed themselves to the limit with a tough coast to coast sponsored cycle.
The team of nine – Duncan Spelman, Tim Hall, Ian Kelley, Matt Casson, Jonny Eglin, Adey Bennett, Paul Simpson, Pete Hibbert and Nick Hodgson – took on the feat in aid of The Christie Hospital and Oldham Mountain Rescue Team.

Backed by a support van driven by Alan Tunnicliffe and Jim Bell, the plucky team began their 151-mile ride from Seascale on the west coast of England at 5am on Saturday, June 28.
Thirteen hours and four food stops later their cross-country challenge was complete when they arrived in Whitby at around 6pm.
Adey Bennett, dentist and company director at Apollonia House Dental and Health Care in Grasscroft, said: “It went very well and it wasn’t too hot thankfully.
“We did an off-road coast to coast ride about three years ago to raise funds for OMRT and thought it had been a while since we had done anything so we decided to give this a go.
“Hardknott Pass in Lake District is the steepest road in Europe but we all got up and down it on our bikes.
“It was difficult and there was a lot of climbing – probably a lot more than in the Tour de France! It does make a difference to keep going up and down as well as the distance.
“But it was fantastic and we all really enjoyed it. We set off as a team and finished as a team so that was great as we didn’t know if we’d all get the whole way on our bikes.”
The team raised more than £2,000 and counting and the final amount will be split equally between the two chosen charities.
