MORE THAN 160 toys, games, teddies and gifts filled Uppermill Police Station ready to bring festive cheer to children living in poverty this Christmas.

For the generous Saddleworth community got behind the kind-hearted police officers in their bid to collect donations for the annual KEY 103 Mission Christmas Appeal.
One in three children currently lives in poverty and the appeal ensures as many children as possible wake up with a present on Christmas day, no matter what their situation.
An enormous 75 presents were donated by Holy Trinity School in Dobcross, after pupils voted to back the appeal along with their other chosen charities for the year.
The presents were delivered by year six students Faye Spratt, Isabella Cook and Sofia Crozier, who organised the collection, with headteacher Mrs Elizabeth Travis.
The Saddleworth police officers, who will package and deliver the gifts to the Mission’s headquarters, were delighted to have topped their target and last year’s total of 150 gifts.
PSCO Lee Lockwood said: “We’re so pleased to support the appeal once again and delighted that the community has really got behind us so we can donate so many presents.
“And we want to say a big thank you to Holy Trinity in particular for their very generous donation.”
Meanwhile generous parents at Diggle Day Nursery donated a host of presents for the appeal after the nursery asked people to buy one extra gift while doing their Christmas shopping.
The Nursery said: “We feel passionate that every child deserves to smile at Christmas and we have been overwhelmed with the response.
“We are so grateful to all the individuals that have contributed and want to say a HUGE thank you.”
