Lorraine Valentine, Keith Palmer and David Bamford received their framed certificates to recognise their commitment and dedication to banding over the decades.

Flugel player Lorraine started playing with the band 40 years ago as a young girl in 1974 and is now also Band Secretary, responsible for organising and booking concerts.

Keith, who is the band’s principal euphonium player and a key member, joined in the same year as Lorraine and has never played with any other band.

And Eb Bass player David, who started playing with his father as a young boy, was awarded the Diamond Award for 60 years’ service to banding.

Delph Band’s conductor Philip Goodwin said: “I’m delighted such outstanding loyalty and commitment has been recognised.

“For Lorraine and Keith to have dedicated 40 years’ service to just one organisation is a remarkable achievement. Dave has served many bands with distinction but since joining Delph in 1989 he has been an integral and invaluable member.

“I’m looking forward to many more years’ service from these three exceptional players.”

There was also success for the whole band at the North West Area Contest Regional Finals as they impressed judges with their performance of Chaucer’s Tunes to finish 9th out of 16.

Delph Band has just revamped its website www.delphband.co.uk and has now also joined Facebook and Twitter. Find them online for more concert details and any vacancies.

Their next concert is on Saturday, April 5 at Denshaw Village Hall and will be a joint concert with Delph Youth Band and Delph Training Band.
