Man charged with attempted murder following incident at Royal Oldham Hospital

A man has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article following a serious incident at Royal Oldham Hospital on Saturday, January 11.

Rumon Haque (29/06/87)from Royton has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 14.

A nurse sustained life-changing injuries and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Detective Superintendent Matt Walker of Greater Manchester Police’s Oldham district issued a statement:

“Our thoughts are with the nurse as she continues to receive treatment in hospital for her injuries, and our priority remains supporting her, her family, and her colleagues at this difficult time.

“We continue to work closely with our NHS colleagues to support anyone who has been affected by this incident.”
