Police appeal for information after serious collision

WITNESSES ARE urged to come forward with information after a man suffered a serious head injury in a collision in Oldham. 

Shortly after 1.30am a silver Peugeot 306 travelling along Firs Lane collided with a garden wall near to the junction with Grasmere Road.GMP logo

A 24-year-old man suffered a fractured shoulder, fractured ribs and a serious head injury. He was taken to Salford Royal Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A 27-year-old woman was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital with minor injuries and later discharged.

She has been arrested in connection with this incident and remains in police custody for questioning.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses and Sergeant Mark Thomas from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “At this stage a young man remains in hospital with a serious head injury.

“It would’ve been quiet on the roads at the time of the collision but if you saw what happened or you saw the car beforehand we would urge you to speak to us.”

Firs Lane was closed and has now reopened.
