THERE is a new exhibit at Saddleworth Museum and you don’t need a royal appointment to view it.

Pictured Street Scene Greenfield Group in Oldham
Last year Street Scene, Greenfield were recipients of the Queens’ Award for Voluntary Service.
Now, they have donated their prized glassware and certificate of commendation to the Museum on Uppermill High Street.
“We each have our own smaller replica of the Award,” explained Street Scene member Steph Pelmore.

“So, rather than keep the main one on someone’s mantelpiece, we thought it would be a good way for it to be kept safely and for more people to see it.”
The QAVS honour is given to volunteer groups throughout the UK for work in their local communities.
A sub group of the Greenfield and Grasscroft Residents’ Association, Street Scene members are out and about in all weathers and seasons litter picking, clearing vegetation from towpaths and bridleways, repairing fences, walls and footpaths and organising the annual Christmas lights switch-on.
