SADDLEWORTH POOL and Leisure Centre is one of the venues for the ‘Striker 9’ awards scheme, a football skills training programme for young people in Oldham brought to you by Oldham Community Leisure and Oldham Athletic Community Trust.
An example of the skills taught on the course are: shooting, turning, control, dribbling, heading, passing.
New members will receive a free ‘Striker 9’ handbook worth £9 to collect medals, certificates and chart their progress.

Participants move through levels 1 to 6 and then bronze, silver and gold.
The aim is to complete the scheme and achieve the gold award.
The training course helps boys and girls aged 5 – 12yrs to:
Develop their football skills
Learn about rules, fitness, condition, and nutrition
Become healthier and more active
Each letter of Striker represents a football skill which participants will work through at each level of the award scheme:
S- Shooting
T-Turning
R-Running with the ball
I-In and out dribbling
K-Keep ups/control
E-‘Ed the ball’
R-Right and left foot passing
