Taekwondo master helps Knowsley Junior School pupils build up confidence

FIVE TIME taekwondo world champion Roger Lawrence has been running anti-bullying and self-confidence taekwondo sessions in primary schools across the borough.

His work locally included Knowsley Junior School in Springhead for three weeks last month.

Roger teaches at the Liverpool School of Taekwondo and the Oldham Taekwondo Academy and has been doing the sport for 34 years.

He has won five World Championships, seven European Championships and 12 British Championships, while also captaining the England Taekwondo team from 1994-2002.

He won the Taekwondo Association of Great Britain lifetime achievement award in 2006.

For the last four years, he has been running courses for children aged four and above in Oldham and Liverpool and has visited multiple schools in Saddleworth to teach local children.

The Oldham Taekwondo Academy is based at Waterhead Academy and its foundations are “to teach children courtesy, integrity and perseverance through Taekwondo”.
