Trio of top awards for Saddleworth Musical Society

A TRIO of prestigious awards has been scooped by Saddleworth Musical Society for their stunning performance of Die Fledermaus.

The society had five nominations, including best actress for Mirriam Lawton and best producer-director for Anita Stuttard.

 

But successful awards were presented to Alison Starrs for best actress in a supporting role, Harry Butterworth for best Musical Director and Pat Butterworth and the stage crew for best Artistic Design.

 

Formed in 1958, SMS continues to be the only society in Saddleworth performing a varied annual programme of choral and musical items usually with a full orchestra.

 

The Society prides itself on its choral ability and like many other amateur societies new members are always welcome.

 

Rehearsals for SMS Pinafore are now well underway and the show will be presented at Saddleworth School on October 27 to 31.

 

The musical has been adapted and arranged by members of the Society.
