A CARING nurse from Greenfield is helping to deliver the best care to patients across the North West after joining a top healthcare company just months after finishing her qualifications.
Jody Shaw, 26, landed the job with Bupa Home Healthcare in October 2013 after completing her Adult Nursing diploma in September – even though she did not officially graduate from the University of Salford until this July.

She has spent the last year travelling up and down the region to provide care for patients with intestinal failure problems in their homes.
Jody explained: “It’s quite a specialised area and there are only two teams that deal with it.
“We’re a small team but we do around 400 visits a week. There is a lot of travelling but I have built up a rapport with the patients which you don’t always get in a hospital.
“When I applied for the job I was quite nervous it’s an area I’m not used to and I had to do a presentation but I was so glad to get it.”
Jody originally pursued a career in banking but decided to retrain as a nurse so signed onto the courses at university.
She is following in the compassionate footsteps of her mother, Lesley, who was also a nurse before spending 20 years as a lollipop lady in Greenfield after having her two children
And Jody already has her next move planned out as she aims to continuing helping as many people as she can.
She revealed: “I want to stay with Bupa for now as I love what I do but eventually I want to go back to university.
“I’d like to study contraception and sexual health. There’s a high demand for nurses in that area at the moment.”
